Sustaining the communities we serve
We believe the biggest single issue which will continue to challenge the sector for years to come is sustainability – not in terms of governance or corporate social responsibility but how truly sustainable we really are.
The construction industry and our customers will be looking for high standards of truth and purpose. These are the pillars upon which our Sustainability Strategy is built.
Social and environmental responsibility is embedded within the DNA of the Purchase Group and will continue to be a defining characteristic of our business as we offer ourselves to Clients as their irresistible choice of partner.
We are passionate about maximising opportunities for the communities we serve and creating a legacy of sustainability that will outlive us through engaging local businesses, partnering with local supply chains and recruiting and training local employees.
We aim to champion the rights and opportunities of people from disadvantaged and hard to reach groups, along with those for whom re-integration into society can represent an unequal struggle. We therefore provide work experience, training and employment opportunities for people with learning difficulties, physical disabilities, young and adult offenders and traditionally under-represented groups within the construction industry including women and people from black and minority ethnic communities.
Recruiting and supporting third sector providers, social enterprise companies and agencies that can draw direct community benefit from partnering with us in offering employment opportunities to long-term unemployed people, and the direct delivery of local services, is a cornerstone of our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy.
