Purchase the future
Our business was founded as a traditional local building firm which never travelled far from its ‘patch’; used local suppliers and gave youngsters valuable experence and knowledge of the construction trade.
As a result we take our responsibility as guardians of the next generation of skilled craftsmen and women very seriously. This is why we start our recruitment work early – with a range of community engagement activities in schools .
Appointing and supporting trainees and apprentices is a cornerstone of our Corporate Social Responsibility Policy. In addition to employing apprentices directly as part of the local delivery team for individual programmes of work, we actively promote, assist and encourage our supply chain to follow suit.
Examples of employment and training initiatives we support:
- E2E (Entry to Employment). We provided work experience and training to 20 young long-term jobless people and gave permanent jobs to five of them
- Intermediate Labour Market Scheme. Providing six months’ work experience and training to five long-term unemployed people, followed by NVQs in a skilled trade
- 4 Real Initiative. This initiative, undertaken in partnership with Castle Vale School, provides a programme of between three and eight weeks’ work experience to students on the brink of exclusion from school due to behavioural issues
- Hard Wiring. Through this Welsh Assembly scheme we have appointed a small local electrical supplies merchant to become the prime supplier to our WHQS Investment Programme in Anglesey.
