Local Employment and Training
G. Purchase Construction Ltd is rightfully proud of its reputation for sustaining the communities it serves. This demonstrated perfectly through our partnership with Cartrefi Conwy where we are presently improving their homes through the refurbishment of kitchens and bathrooms, replacement of central heating, new windows and doors, environmental improvements, renewable energy installations and much, much more.
Our legacy will not simply be the improvements to people’s homes, we are improving people’s lives and providing employment and training opportunities that would not otherwise have existed.
Below are a few of the experiences of people we have helped on to the employment and training ladder:
“I was given a year placement job by G Purchase Construction Ltd from my university course at Liverpool John Moores University, and started around the end of September. Since then I have been working with many different people, taking on many different tasks and responsibilities. I am very grateful to the company as the year will provide me a wealth of experience that cannot be picked up in a classroom or lecture theatre. I have been working with the Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager for most of my time assisting with many different parts of projects financing, tracking, planning as well as visiting the sites to pick up practical knowledge of construction work. Had I not found placement with the company, I would have returned to university to finish my degree without any relevant work experience. After finishing I am sure I would have struggled somewhat to find employment due to my lack of direct experience.”
Huw Richards, Trainee Manager, Denbigh
“I began working for G Purchase construction Ltd on the 25th of January 2010. From the very beginning it was a fast paced job providing me with a variety of challenges but these challenges never came without assistance if required. Throughout every step of my employment, if I had a query, help was available. I have learned a lot already after just over a month of employment and I am already confident in many tasks. There is a strong sense of camaraderie in the office and I am grateful to work here. If it wasn’t for G Purchase taking me on under the Rhyl City Strategy Future Jobs Fund, it is very likely that I would still be unemployed. However, I am now receiving a wealth of experience in all aspects of administrative work and of the highest quality.”
Lee Jagger, Administrative Assistant, Rhyl
“For 6 months I had been unemployed and I found it hard to find work in the area. I heard of a jobs fair in Rhyl which was held by Rhyl City Strategy which I attended and was introduced to G Purchase Construction Ltd. I started full time work in January as a drivers mate. Although the work is hard, I really enjoy myself and have learnt a lot already. I work with a great team and they have helped me improve my organisation skills and physical ability If the company did not employ me I would still have been on job seekers allowance and not have learnt what I have and made the friends I have here.”
Lorne Elleby, Driver’s mate, Rhyl
“My name is Rebecca Jones I am the apprentice plumber working with Colin Griffiths the gas engineer. I am in college 1 day a week and with G Purchase Construction Ltd the rest of the week. I am enjoying my apprenticeship. I have learnt a lot since I have been here. If I didn’t have my apprenticeship I would continue going to college 3 days a week and be struggling to find more experience. I feel like I have gained more confidence and knowledge while I have been with the company.”
Rebecca Jones, Apprentice Plumber,Bodelwyddan

“I am currently a student of Llandrillo College studying Electrical Installation. I do this course over 2 days which is on release and funded by my employer, G Purchase Construction Ltd. I have been employed by GP Construction Ltd for 6 months now, I am really enjoying it and the pay is good and structured around my course, i.e. I get a pay rise based on what certificates I get. They also pay my course fees and have supplied me with a uniform and the books I need. The feedback I get from my supervisor is also very good and he is always vey willing to check my circuit and wiring diagrams to check I have done them correctly prior to me needing to hand them in.”
Michael Thomas, Apprentice Electrician, Denbigh
“My name is Christian McBride and am 20 years old. I’ve been working with G Purchase Construction Ltd since the 4th of January 2010. I’m an apprentice plasterer doing an NVQ2 once or twice a month at the college. I am currently working with another plasterer in Llandudno. I’m really enjoying working with the company and working with others. If I wasn’t working with G Purchase Construction Ltd, I’d be working in the co-op still but it was so boring and long hours and rubbish pay. I received my boots, high viz, t-shirts and coat. I get on well with the supervisors on site.”
